MY DARK DELIGHTS: An Introduction To My Work & Passion
I want to welcome you to my digital abode. A place where the shadows sing, nightmares are faced, and beauty is often found in the darkness.
My name is Lucifer Storm, and I’m an award-winning graphic novelist from Bournemouth, UK. While I like to write stories across many genres, my one true love is exploring the multiple sub-genres of Horror. From your basic stalk and slash, all the way to the more complex psychological horror yarn.
So, If you’re someone who is looking for fluffy rainbows, unicorn musings and brightly coloured animals that will sing and dance to you, then I’m afraid you’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere upon your journey.
However, if you have a taste for the macabre and like to explore the shadows, sit back, dim the lights and grab yourself a glass of something red. Cause we’re about to go on a journey that is frightfully exciting for both you and I.
WHO AM I?
How about we get to know each other a little better, shall we?
As I have mentioned previously, I am an award-winning graphic novelist. This is a fancy way of saying that I write comic books.
My journey into this career path began in 2010, shortly after the passing of my father. That’s when I realized that life was too short to not follow your passion. This led to me writing for magazines, writing for poetry collections, working in film and animation and spending the majority of my time working on comic books.
I have worked on such titles as ‘Ed Gein: Demon Hunter’ & ‘Lady Satan’. And it’s my work in comics that has seen me and my work nominated for several awards…I even won an award for my work too!
However, there is more to me than just writing. I have dabbled in illustration, I write and perform music, and I adore animals and wildlife. In fact, I have spent several years looking after wild animals, especially foxes.
And, of course, I am a huge fan of horror. Something that I will talk more about in just a moment.
MY GOALS
Why do I do what I do? I hear you ask…Well…Myself and my therapist are still trying to figure that one out. But if I had to take a stab in the dark, then I would say it’s because I have a few more demons to exorcise than most. And what better way of doing it than through a horrifically thrilling tale. Or maybe it's because I'm addicted to that feeling of writing something that connects with me on a deep level. It's like I'm exploring the depths of my own psyche and sharing it with the world.
However, I would also say it's because I have a passion for storytelling and a love for the horror genre. I believe that horror is a powerful medium for exploring the human experience and confronting our deepest fears. Whether it's through a terrifying monster, a haunting ghost, or a twisted psychological thriller, horror has the power to both terrify and enlighten.
And what's even better than the thrill of writing a great horror story? Hearing from readers who couldn't put the book down. That's the ultimate reward for me as a writer.
So, that's why I do what I do. To create a legacy of horror that will outlive me, and to share my passion with others.
And hey, if it pays the bills too, that's just an added bonus.
OVERVIEW OF THE BLOG
You may be thinking ‘Why is this weirdo writing a blog’? And the answer you are looking for (but may not expect) is simple.
I’m doing this because my demented chicken scratch looks better when it’s typed up. Also, I want to build a better connection with my readers and fans and share more of my passions with you. If you're like me and find yourself drawn to the darker side of life, you might sometimes feel like you're the only one. But fear not, because this blog is a place where we can embrace our love of horror and all things ‘spooky’ together.
So, what exactly will I write about on this blog?… I’m glad you asked. And I’m more than happy to tell you. Just promise me that you’ll brace yourself, and you’ll only scream if you want the ride to go faster!
I could easily ramble on about horror for days on end. But if I did that, you would die of boredom, and I would get a very dry mouth. So, while I will be posting horror-themed blog content centred around horror movies, strange phenomena, morbid curiosities and true crime, I’m also going to be sharing little snippets of my life as a writer, along with some advice scattered throughout for any of you budding writers out there. On top of this, you can also expect news and updates about my forthcoming books (and other creative projects) and the occasional sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes content too!
